What Is Chiropractic Care?
Chiropractic care is a regulated health discipline focused on diagnosing and treating conditions of the spine, joints, and surrounding soft tissues. Treatment typically involves manual adjustments to restore joint mobility, reduce nerve irritation, and support the body's natural capacity to heal.
At Durham Spine & Sports Clinic, chiropractic care serves as the foundation for nearly every treatment plan. Whether a patient presents with an acute injury or a longstanding musculoskeletal complaint, the goal is the same: identify what is actually causing the problem, explain it clearly, and address it directly.
How Our Team Approaches Chiropractic Care
Durham Spine & Sports Clinic is led by Dr. Alykhan Jamal, BA(Hon), DC, CSCS, with additional care provided by Dr. Jeremy Beauvais, DC, and chiropractic intern Gordon Clark. Each practitioner brings an individualized, evidence-based approach, and treatment plans are tailored to the patient in front of them, not a template.
Dr. Jamal's intake process is particularly comprehensive, combining orthopaedic testing, neurological assessment, and manual muscle evaluation before any treatment begins. His philosophy: patients who understand their condition get better outcomes. He holds post-graduate training in non-surgical spinal decompression, the Graston Technique, Contemporary Medical Acupuncture, and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Dr. Beauvais complements this with additional training in acupuncture, golf-specific injury management, and concussion care. Gordon Clark brings a background in Human Kinetics and Sports Science, with focused training in ART, Graston, and soft tissue therapy.
